Age-friendly city centre
What makes an age-friendly city centre
Demographic changes are increasing the proportion of older people living in Auckland’s inner city and changing how people use public space.
An age-friendly approach supports ageing-in-place and reflects residents’ requirements for participating fully in the life of the city centre.
Making Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland age-friendly
Auckland Council is aiming to become a member of the World Health Oragnisation (WHO) global network of Age Friendly Cities (residents who are 65 years and over).
An Age-Friendly Action Plan is in development. It will enable a more inclusive and friendly Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland.
